This project involved dismantling  the Marion 7500 walking dragline - which is 95% welded in construction, and moving it from Cumbria to the North East.

This is, to date, the biggest workshop based fabrication project we have undertaken, for Bucyrus Europe Ltd. All castings were supplied by the customer and the rest of the materials were supplied and manufactured by ourselves. This 36 yard dragline bucket is now working in a large coal field in East India. This was the first fitting of a cast Esco lip to an O&K RH200 Visor to be carried out in Britain. We supplied and fabricated complete new sides and in-line bored the pivot holes. The contract was completed on time, and has been working trouble free since it left us 2 years ago. Another angle whilst fitting the cast Esco lip to an O&K RH200 Visor This is an O&K 120 back-actor boom that we modified here in our workshop. We removed the whole top section of the boom, fabricated the whole assembly, and placed the fabricated piece back onto the boom, then line-bored the pick-up points.

This was a typical repair job we performed on site in the goldfield area of Ghana, West Africa. With this particular contract, we were asked if it was possible to repair a completely broken Cat 773 chassis. The outcome was that we sent 2 men with plate and consumables, and repaired 4 chassis, in the same condition, in 8 days. These were previously designated for scrap, and are still running today - some 6 years later! One of the Cat 773 chassis' after repair This was our first contract with Tanzanias first ever open cast gold mine, some 500 miles into the bush! We were brought in by Unatrac to build thirteen 777D skips. For this project we provided all the welding equipment, consumables and tools required (grinders, hammers, etc) and arranged for the transportation of this to Tanzania. The project was completed by a team of 4 over 6 weeks, working to a very tight schedule. The ultimate customer - Moolman Brothers - were very satisfied! More of Tanzania! This was an emergency repair for a local open cast mine. The top of the visor had broken off and had to be replaced. The job was completed and returned to the mine within 24 hours.

This banjo modification was requested by Terex (American Division) for trucks working in quarries in Portugal and Spain. We have also modified 3311 axles for Terex in Alabama, and are called upon to perform most maintenance and fabrication work for Terex. Whilst working at one of the gold mines in West Africa, we were approached by Gag Mining to examine 3 buckets, which had been designated as scrap by the site. We offered to refit them on site with new sides and lips, and a full set of adaptors and wear packages. The company placed an order with us for 3 kits and a 2 man team refurbished the buckets over a 3 week period. A contract we took in Ghana was to cut off 4 lugs on this excavator, supply and fit plates and casting, and line bore. We then got the job of three more machines after six months trial. 1 happy customer!
A J Johnson Jnatra asked us to design and manufacture a lifting frame for a large excavator, as cranes were limited. It was then supported by jacks for 1 week, then lowered back on to the track frame after a bearing change. We manufactured this wear kit, for supply to Ghana. We went out to site to build the skip and fit the wear kit. Turning a body that has been built on site A perfect sunset after a hard day!
